Today was a day without the usual morning and evening yoga classes So we all spent a magical day with elephants on a game reserve.
This guy in the picture has been scrubbed and bathed by a Mahout for well over an hour. The men stay with each Elephant until adulthood, forming close relationships from when the elephants 1st arrive at the centre (when they are usually less than a year old). They are all rescued animals at this rehabilitation centre so you can feel the result of the attention and love each animal receives !!X
I really have to say that the local people in Kerela are the sweetest most trusting souls I have ever met on the planet. When they smile they smile because they like you with no other hidden agendas…. It’s incredibly inspiring to experience and realise that this type of human community is still alive and functional plus there are no chain stores as exist in our mono western culture anywhere to be seen. You can buy something and then bring the money the next day if you wish … makes one’s spirit fly to witness and experience of trust!
Yesterday I hung out with the local coconut dealer next to the beach and drank fresh coconut juice out of the shell while he told me about his life in Kerala and his mother sliced up the biggest pineapple I have ever beheld which I took onto the beach and ate as the sun began to set beyond the crashing waves of a blue Indian Ocean and the sounds of the Hindu temple bells rang out all mixed up with the call of the Imam from the beachside Mosque!!!
Yogabeats will definately be back again next year that’s for Sure !!!
