Hi ,this is David Sye of Yogabeats ,..
Many people may not be aware that Yogabeats
was forged and born out of my own personal survival
via yoga during the Bosnian war
in the early 90s
I discovered an extraordinary tool when I returned to the west
for conflict resolution,.useful
not only for the personal interior wars of most people’s human psyche
but also the overt urban war zones of western feral youth
and the full blown conflicts dividing the Middle East.
My involvement with the Middle East began via an invitation to teach at festivals in Israel during 2004
which I agreed ,.only upon the premise that classes were also set up
within the West Bank ,..there was at first great resistance ,.but finally it was agreed ,.and since that time I have crossed those borders
innumerable times to teach In both countries.
Yogabeats is a unique celebratory yoga style and had an immediate benign effect upon the extraordinary souls still caught up in the West Bank
throughout this longest of all world conflicts.
students from both Israel and The West Bank
met in the first land mark ‘joint class’ ever to be held in Jerusalem between both nations,..
and each year since the project began ,it just naturally blossomed and grew
in spite of all the on going day to day devastation ,.
(even gaining the recognition and support of His Holiness The Dali Lama)
Yogabeats Conflict reached a critical mass,. where further help was urgently required to handle its day to day operation
Thankfully Sarah Stephen and her husband Paul stepped in
and took over the vital task of administration and the Yogabeats Conflict division.
Sarah consequently joined me on many trips into the West Bank ,..delighting and bonding with all she encountered
And then in 2014 my dear friend and fellow ‘Yoga Elder’ ,Sama Fabian
,.offered her awesome teaching skills to the Yogabeats Conflict Team,.
for me personally .,this was a great honour to have someone like her
on board with the project
she became an immediate hit with the Palestinians wherever we toured
in the West Bank.
This year as the Middle Eastern troubles escalated dramatically
I received an extraordinary offer of support for the Yoga Beats Conflict work
as I climbed onto a flight to teach in India
from Karissa and Jamie Issacs ,offering their facilities free of all charges at
‘The Azul Yoga and Pilates Centre in Fuertavenura in the Canary Islands ,.
.I immediately emailed Sarah Stephen ,declaring that a miracle had just happened
and to contact Karissa and Jamie and confirm a date as soon as possible
and to action their generous offer!
Of course our Palestinian students and friends caught
within the confines of the West Bank were ecstatic
at the possibility of this adventure
and to experience life outside of the conflict zone
apart from the magical experience of encountering the open ocean
(Which for some would be a unique first time experience)
Palestinians friends living in the UK ,. were over joyed at possibility of a reunion in Fuertavenura and a camera crew was hired to film this
unique world event .
When the project kicks into action in November later this year
it will set up a paradigm shift that holds the real possibilities
of effectively circumnavigating
a shift away from the age old ‘head to head’conflict
of the Middle East
allowing the international community to witness
that peace actually can flourish
not only through political strategies
but through simple communities coming together
and that yoga and its personal effects of cooperation and compassion
its acts of love and humanity ,..can galvanise a benign world
that for centuries
our human war cultures have consistently failed to create,…..
We need your support ,..right now…,
we need anything financial that you care to contribute ,
anything at all to make this project in November 2015 a reality
be a part of a shift that could precipitate
a true evolutionary stepping stone for humanity
rather than the ceaseless conflicts we have experienced up to this point!
Take yoga beyond
your yoga centre,.
if you think that yoga can transform your own personal life
did it also cross your mind that it might also be able to do this for our world!?
Join Yoga’s soft revolution!!!
Many thanks and Peace be upon you all David Sye ,.
